Phantom Abyss first dropped towards our eyes at the back end of 2022. At that time it was all about enjoying the Early Access / Game Preview vibes, much like the phenom that is Palworld is doing now. Phantom Abyss requested you to run a gauntlet though, as fast as you could. We descended into Phantom Abyss and quite enjoyed what was on offer.
I’m confident that additional polish and content are coming down the pipeline, but I need more from the current state of the game.

Movement is the name of the game, and Whip Again can drastically extend your air time and vertical distance. With quick enough reflexes, should your first grapple fail to help you reach a safe platform, Whip Again can give you a second chance to avoid falling into the abyss.
Phantom Abyss also taps into some roguelike elements with its blessing system, which offers you random power-ups for the run’s duration in exchange for collected treasure. Treasure is found in chests hidden throughout each temple, redeemable at statues between floors that offer one of two presented blessings, adding other strategic decisions to the action.

Phantom Abyss is a massive asynchronous multiplayer game that casts players into procedurally-generated temples and tasks them with retrieving the sacred relics hidden within deadly chambers. Intrepid adventurers will dodge scores of hidden traps, leap treacherous chasms, and flee relentless guardians through branching paths until one of the Phantom Abyss Speedrun relics are claimed or the devices of death overwhelm them. Be warned, you only get one attempt at each temple and failure or settling for a lesser relic means you will never see that temple again...The cleverest players will use the phantom runs of failed attempts from other players to their advantage and avoid the missteps and mistakes that led to their doom.
Phantom Abyss offers an original experience, tinged with platform and roguelite, in a colorful "Indiana Jonesque" atmosphere but a flemmarde hair. The result is rather convincing at the moment and the asynchronous multiplayer adds a real little added value.
